Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of removing dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills and staining) in one session without the need to change devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot will be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin and fill up their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with a dedicated dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer at a low cost, and it's one of the most simple robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you running with a clean and complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand, though we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a mop only vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's top robot mop and vacuum. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to pull up finer hairs and other debris other best robotic mop and vacuum cleaners may miss.

Like the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to helps it avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can alter its course automatically and clean around them, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek angular design is striking, and it only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning mop button, which doubles up as a child-lock and a home button to send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin auto-filling.

The only issue I encountered to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for manual washing. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number clever features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's life. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how efficient it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum that mops vacuum and mop is a market leader with innovative features, superior suction power and advanced mowing abilities. Its intelligent design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum cleans up dry mess, including pet hair and dust. It also comes with a top-quality mop that makes hard floors sparkling clean, even without a wet pad. In addition, the X40 is extremely quiet during it's operation, producing only occasional bursts of noise when switching modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.

Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It can also detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you when it gets overflowing, reducing the necessity for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive on the market however, it comes with many extra features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature in its mop, utilizes two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and other small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This is a fantastic feature because it prevents the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and it also makes mop systems more efficient.
