Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?
A compact double pushchair makes it simple to get around, particularly when you have children of different age groups. They're generally easy to fold, steer, and transport up and down stairs.
This City Mini GT2 features side-by-side seating with plenty of legroom. It also features adjustable reclining, large UPF 50+ canopies and peekaboo windows. It also features a smart frame that expands widthways to accommodate a second car seat, and also a compatible car seat(s).
Side-by-Side
The majority of lightweight double pushchairs we tested are side-by-side models and are best suited for children who can sit up on their own, as these models tend to lack car seat integration. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double, are both excellent choices. They have adjustable recline for both seats, a huge canopy, and padded five-point safety harnesses. They're also easy to move despite their bigger footprint and are great for parents who worry about fitting into doorways.
The Cybex Duet pushchair is unique because it features a unique frame that expands to add a second child seat. This makes it smaller than other pushchairs with side-by-side seating. It can be pushed through standard doors and is easy to move around on public transport. It can also be used as a jogger, which is ideal when you are planning to use it in conjunction with an infant car seat or baby carrier.
The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another fantastic side-by-side double that is lightweight. It provides additional flexibility due to a modular frame. The clever design allows the conversion of an individual or double buggy by adding two carrycots or car seats for children. It can even accommodate twins. It's a great option for growing families. The UPPAbaby umbrella stroller is also one of the lightest, most stylish and stylish strollers available.
If you prefer a more compact and lightweight double, you can try the egg2 which folds to the size of a tiny suitcase. It can be used as a single or double by adding two carrycots or infant car seats, and our home testers loved the sleek and easy it was to handle even when loaded with children.
Although they're lightweight double pushchairs that sit side-by-side do not guarantee safety. If your children are at the same age and stage, they could still argue over who sits in which seat. If they are at different heights, then a tandem style may be
best double strollers for them, as it allows them to face each other.
Tandem
While side-by-side models may be better suited for siblings of the same age, tandem lightweight double pushchairs have their own charms. Some can accommodate an extra car seat, while others come with Reversible seats. Others have an extra carrycot or a reclined seat that can be flipped in the middle. They are generally more spacious and easier to get in and out of the baskets, though they are typically smaller than those of single buggies. They often have larger big canopies with windows that peek out as well as a cup holder for the parent and padded leg cushions for young children.
The iCandy Peach is another example of a good-value lightweight tandem. The fabric is a bit less expensive than some of our top-rated doubles. However, it looks fantastic and is simple to use. One of the most impressive things about it is its one-handed fold. Although it requires practice, Kirstie in our Lab said it's "genius". It's not possible to fold it with the carrycot attached, but the mechanism for attaching and taking it off it is simple and quick.
Tandem lightweight double strollers will usually make tighter turning than side-by-
side by side double stroller models. However, they may be harder to navigate on uneven surfaces and curbs. They can also be slower to accelerate and heavier to move. This can put stress on your back.
A convertible double buggy is a different alternative. It's initially a single but you can also add adapters to convert it into double. They can include the option of a second seat, a carrycot or both in the front. Children can sit together. Some of them also offer the option to add a buggy board, which can help older children keep up with younger siblings.
The Uppababy Vista V2 is a great example of a convertible since it can be converted into a twin pram with the purchase of additional cocoons (PS59 each) that provide a flat space for newborns. They can be positioned on top of each other or positioned to each other's faces and you can also use them with the infant car seat that is included with the pushchair (as long as you choose a compatible one). These dual-use buggies are made of high-quality materials and can be used for many years without showing any wear. This means they have a high resale price.
Single-to-Double
This light double buggy was designed for families who love the outdoors and want to upgrade from an individual-stroller. It can be converted into a jogger with kits that include air-filled tires and all-wheel-suspension. It can also withstand rough terrain well and it's a tandem triple that is suitable for twins or children of various ages. It's a great option for parents who want a stylish design that is as sleek as a single and comes in different fabric colours.
We loved the way that this iCandy model folds down with a one-handed mechanism that's really simple to master. It's also heavier than the other pushchairs that are single-to-double in this review, home tester Karolina stated that it feels extremely maneuverable, even when she had two toddlers and a carrycot inside.
You can purchase additional items like the Roma Gemini Carrycots (PS100) which are perfect for newborns. Our test panel found the seats to be comfortable for toddlers and had good headrests and lumbar support. There are a variety of options for reclining, with the front seat adjusting to various positions, and the rear seat offering the option to recline.
The main drawback to this type of buggy is that it's generally larger overall than the side-by-side doubles, which makes it harder to navigate through doorways and can be tricky to manoeuvre up and down kerbs. However the suspension and wheels on these types of strollers generally are capable of handling paved surfaces, and the fact that they're usually significantly lighter than the side-bysides means that you still find plenty of storage space. It's important to remember that strollers of this type aren't as efficient in walking through the narrow aisles of supermarkets, and may struggle to handle a large amount of shopping. Although it's easier to turn the stroller on a small curved path, it can be a challenge. Some are also easier to turn than others, with the Thule Urban Glide 2
double running buggy Pram Stroller (

Convertible
Convertible double pushchairs are ideal because they are able to be adapted to the changing needs of families. They are typically single buggies, and come with adapters that allow you to include a second child's seat, a carrycot, or (in some instances) the car seat to the frame. Some of them can be converted back to a single when your child grows older and begins to walk more or prefers to ride on buggy boards.
This stylish tri-fold
stokke double stroller stroller is one of the lightest on our list. It can hold up to 40 pounds per child and has a storage basket between the seats. The spacious canopy with peekaboo window, multi-position reclining seats and a front and back suspensions to ensure smoother riding on rough terrain were praised by home testers. It also has a convenient cup holder for the parent and a large, easy-to access basket. The backs have small pockets, that are just big enough to fit the phone and a set of keys.
This light, high-end side-byside is available in more than 20 configurations. It also includes a second chair and carrycot. It has a high-profile steering handlebar, rear and front suspensions that smooth rough terrain, a compact fold that can be folded up with straps for easy transport and seven-inch front wheels with swivel locks, and 10-inch back wheels that have suspensions for more comfortable riding. The only drawback is that you'll need buy a separate baby carrier or car seat.
This multi-functional tandem is a top pick by our home testers due to its maneuverability and large shopping basket, which can be accessed with both seats in the parent-facing position. It is a breeze to maneuver due to its low weight (about the equivalent of some single pushchairs). Many have praised the clever way it connects the second seat or riding board to the back. Parents also liked the fact that it could accommodate infant carriers and car seats from multiple brands, including some which aren't usually fit in other double buggies.
